Every wedding, no matter how big or small, has a story. It is the story of two people taking a leap of faith together to start something new and unknown, two lives and two stories becoming one. When we heard that Annie and John were ready to make this commitment to each other, even without the biggest celebration of their lives waiting for them, we knew it was something we had to be a part of. They were in love, and that was a story worth documenting.

Their story begins in a simple San Francisco apartment, each of them preparing themselves on either side of the same door, excited to finally begin a life they dreamed of living together. As we followed them to city hall and witnessed the start of their marriage, we were humbled and honored realizing that we would forever be a part of this intimate and important day. With only three guests (and two photographers) there, Annie and John began their first steps together towards their future.

San Francisco City Hall is a real architectural wonder and photographer’s playground. The moment we walked in, we were speechless. The details on every surface and natural light flooding in from every corner were nothing short of amazing—and the best part was, we could have the ceremony anywhere our hearts desired! So we found a quiet, well-lit spot on the top floor, overlooking the grand atrium in all its glory, and there Annie and John held their civil ceremony and made it official!

Following their sweet and simple ceremony, we spent the rest of the day visiting several classic San Francisco landmarks such as the Palace of Fine Arts and the Golden Gate Bridge to continue the magic. What can we say—love is in the air.
