Stage 6 at Steiner Studios Wedding Photos // Mimi + Michael – San Diego Wedding Photographer | Los Angeles Wedding Photography
Over the years, many people have asked us to share crazy stories that happen during our wedding experiences. Well, this is a good one.
We had been looking forward to this wedding all year long because we were going to see one of our past couples, Amy and Alan, whose wedding we had photographed a few years ago—and on top of it all, they were expecting their first child! We had first met Mimi at their wedding, who happened to be Amy’s best friend, and were excited about this little reunion we were going to have. But when we arrived at the Andaz, the big news was that her Matron of Honor, Amy, had gone into labor that morning! And the word from Sachiko was that she went to the hospital with beautiful hair (smile). Although this called for some unexpected change of plans, what joyful news to hear that your best friend was going to become a mother on your wedding day!

We visit Brooklyn so much every year for engagement and portrait sessions, but it’s rare that we get to photograph a wedding in this magnificent part of New York. Mimi and Michael found a wonderful spot with a glorious rooftop view of Manhattan at the trendy Stage 6 at Steiner Studios by the Brooklyn Naval Yard. This place, we learned, is actually one of six movie studios where many legendary films were made throughout the years! As a tribute to all the masterpieces that were birthed here, their staircase features a collage of movie posters, past and present, plastered to the walls. And of course, it made an awesome backdrop (smile).
