Oheka Castle Wedding Photography New York Mansion
Many young girls dream of one day having a princess wedding in a magical ballgown, dancing with her Prince Charming in the grand ballroom of a royal castle. Although in this case, there was no princess, or ballgown, or even Prince Charming, for that matter, there was a beautiful bride, a stunning wedding gown, a picture-perfect groom, and, of course, a castle.
Although this may not be your typical princess wedding, it was definitely an elegant, classy, and unforgettable party of a lifetime. Every detail was flawless, and Monalyn as a bride was a timeless beauty that took John’s breath away. She wore a stunning Monique Lhuillier lace gown and veil for her Orthodox Greek ceremony, and definitely did head-to-toe lace better than the bride in My Big Fat Greek Wedding (smile).

As much as the iconic Greek Wedding film never ceases to cheer me up, witnessing a real Greek wedding was really quite a treat. Even though it was hard to understand most of the ceremony (certainly all Greek to me), it was interesting learning about every symbolic tradition from the crowning of the Stefana to the first steps they take as husband and wife. But of course, our favorite part of the ceremony was when the newlyweds exited the church and were showered (or chucked at, really) with rice!
Oheka Castle felt like a world away. As soon as we entered the tree-lined driveway, it was hard to remember that we were only in Long Island. It was one of those places where you could totally get lost in their maze of rooms and hallways, but at the same time, discover a new awesome corner at just about every turn. This, of course, called for some great photo ops with our happy couple!
Greek-Filipino weddings seem to be a winning combo for dancing the night away. These are two cultures that really know how to celebrate! Soon after all the formalities were done and the plates were cleared, the party jump-started and never seemed to stop. With a full Greek band in play, soon there was cash floating through the air and both families were showing off their stuff on the dance floor. Being in the center of all the action (literally), we, too, were showered with plenty of celebratory cheer and, of course, dollar bills! What a way to end a long day!
