We have a love affair with Chicago…even its suburbs. Deep-dish pizza, Korean barbeque, and Potbelly sandwiches are only a few of the many things we love about visiting the Midwest. And if we get to be part of somebody’s special day while we’re enjoying all of it, that makes our trip even sweeter.

Anybody’s wedding day can be made that much more exciting with a few special details, like a gorgeous Vera Wang lace gown, a blue trolley, or even something as small as a cake topper that you absolutely love. But what could be more special than having your wedding on your birthday? Karen and Hilary decided to tie the knot on Karen’s birthday, which also happened to be Mother’s Day weekend. So if Hilary ever forgets their anniversary, his wife’s birthday, and his mom’s special day, then I guess he’ll really be in trouble (smile). Congratulations, you two! And happy best-birthday-ever.

Creative, personal details always make a wedding more memorable. I especially love their pill-bottle candy favors! Since Karen and Hilary are both pharmacists, it was the perfect little piece for their guests to bring home. And who can say “no” to a cute aqua trolley for their “something blue”?

Best man toasts composed at the last minute (during dinner) always seem to be the best ones, especially if they ruthlessly embarrass the groom while they’re at it! Toasts are always one part of the reception that we look forward to—we feel like we get to know the bride and groom a little better, and also share a great laugh with everyone like we’re part of the party. Plus, we get front-row seats (camera in-hand), so we can’t complain (smile).
