Portland Art Museum Wedding Photos // Corissa + Yi – San Diego Wedding Photographer | Los Angeles Wedding Photography

Some of you know that we travel quite a bit during our busy season, usually from coast to coast or up and down California, but this weekend was our first time in Portland, Oregon, and from all that we’ve heard about it, we were psyched! Sure enough, it was just as free-spirited, down-to-earth, and laid-back as we thought it would be. I don’t think we’ve ever seen so many homeless people chilling on the streets before (apparently it’s a way of life there, and honestly, they didn’t seem to mind it). We also saw a few pygmy goats in the center of town alongside barefooted, music-playing tree huggers while lining up for Salt & Straw ice cream. Surely this city was living up to its reputation!

But besides all the fun we were having exploring the city, we were here for something far more important. Corissa and Yi prepared for their big day at the Portland Art Museum in high spirits—it was the long-awaited union of a long distance relationship. This day was such a big deal, in fact, that even their cute sidekick, Rubiks, joined us for the day! Even though he had an underbite and a missing front tooth, Rubiks looked rather dashing in his little black tux and bow tie. And if the pup’s name doesn’t give it away, we knew Corissa was not going to be our typical princess-wedding sort of bride. Besides delighting in geeky details (which we thought was completely endearing), she also plays water polo in her spare time and has worked up enough muscle to pick up just about anything (including her new husband!). Oh yes, and she is a huge Steelers fan, which we soon learned when Yi surprised her with some tickets to the game. Let’s just say it wasn’t long before we knew this wedding was going to be a lot of fun!

We love it when unexpected places are used for weddings. The Portland Art Museum was a unique backdrop for their ceremony and reception, with Greek sculptures and Corinthian columns surrounding the space. Guests were even allowed to explore the galleries during cocktail hour, which was a nice surprise! Of course, with a cool space like this, it meant we could take some interesting portraits of the newly weds throughout the day. Our favorite, though, might have to be their Addams Family inspired “family portrait” at the very end of our post. Totally wicked.
